Quercus Cerris (Turkey Oak) has been widely used for making railway sleepers for decades, most people sell them as oak sleepers without mentioning the fact that they are of the Turkey oak variety, (perhaps 50% of the oak sleepers on the UK market today are turkey oak).

Quercus Cerris is perfectly acceptable for all landscaping uses, it will stand the test of time and look and feel like normal European oak - it is perhaps a little more prone to splitting but is an essentially very good value, good quality landscaping product.
